A TINY SPARK OF HOPE CAN SET SOMEONE’S LIFE ON FIRE!
Renewing Your Mind
How many of you think that prophecy is only about gaining a divine “fresh new word” for someone that you have either never met or for someone at your church? That is part of New Testament prophecy for sure; however, I am going to ask you to rethink your definition at the end of this blog.
Revealing the Spirit of Prophecy
There is so much more to the Spirit of Prophecy or “revealing” Jesus to others than we have ever thought or imagined. Hopefully, the following scriptures will help you think about prophecy in a new way.
Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say:
Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Messiah. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters, who accuses them before our God day and night has been hurled down. They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.
Revelation 12:10-11 (NIV)
Our Testimonies Have Power over Death
In John 10:10, it says that the devil only comes to “kill, steal and destroy,” but that Jesus has come to give us life and life abundantly. If this is the case, how do we triumph in everyday life and release the reality of this to others? By the shed blood of Jesus and by the word of our testimonies! You see it’s our testimonies (our stories of triumph and victory) over oppression, sickness, poverty, loss, or anything else thrown at us, that unfolds and reveals the Spirit of Prophecy. Testimonies do this by bearing witness to the power of Jesus at work in us today.
Testimonies Are The Activities of God
Just as when Jesus Himself walked the earth in His human body, our testimonies are the activities of God being done by Christ in us, which is the hope of glory! Let me repeat that: our victories, when we overcome adversity and we come out the other side and we don’t even smell of smoke, speak to people and make them without excuse see that there is a Living God. When our experience sends the message that our victory was for no other reason “But God,” it releases Jesus and His prophecy over the lives of others who believe us. When shared with others, our testimonies are His activities in our lives. It’s like giving someone a front row seat to the Spirit and Jesus who are cast as the leads in the movie of your life.
Testimonies Release The Spirit of Prophecy (Jesus)
Now I know what you’re thinking. Don’t get hung up that your testimony is not prophecy. Prophesying through your testimony is simply sharing the goodness and faithfulness of God with someone who is walking through what you already have. You may say, “well I went through the same situation, and God did X or Y for me.” When you recount that testimony out of love, conviction, and passion, what do you think you are releasing into that other person? Yes, you are releasing into their hearts the Spirit of Prophecy (Jesus).
The Kingdom of Heaven is NOW!
You are declaring His goodness and His love over them and their future. The future you are telling them about is what changed your own! You can release the kingdom of heaven over them and tell them how their life is going to be. When you do that, you are lifting their eyes above their circumstances toward God, and away from what the trouble and heartache they are experiencing right at that moment.
It’s a Supernatural Transaction
So, what is this supernatural transaction, you may ask? It’s prophecy! You see, it’s so much more powerful than you think when you release His lifeblood and His faithfulness into a heart and over a situation. Not only does it give them hope, it also stirs you up too. How great is that!! These words that you release are based on 1 Corthinians 14:3; edification, exhortation and comfort, we call these at Roots and Wings E.E.C. words.
Stone Monuments?
Do you know that the Israelites built stone monuments all the time to remember the goodness and faithfulness of God? They were encouraged to remember and to relive their testimonies of what He had already bought them through. And of course, they remembered God’s faithfulness as they walked through adversity time and time again.
We Have to Build The Same
We need to do the same; we need to remember and stir ourselves up with the monuments we have in our hearts and minds to what God has already done for us. Why? If we don’t, we run the danger that we don’t recognize the activities of God as well as we recognize the devil in our circumstances. Life will begin to pull us down to where we become complacent. No way! We cannot forget the things He has done.
Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. [2] Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: [3] Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; [4] Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; [5] Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
Psalm 103:1-5 (KJV)
God’s Activities Are The Door to Prophecies
Start to relive and remember all the testimonies that He has brought you through, and share them with your family, your friends, and anyone who needs to hear it! Why? Because to declare His activities is to open the door of prophecy over their life, and it will take you and them to another level of life and freedom in Christ!
